The Richmond Academy of Medicine is a non-profit local medical society of over 1,600 physicians and students who have a long history of working together to sustain local practices and improved patient care. We advocate for patients and physicians and address the issues most important to them. We are also very active in our community, participating with Cross-Over Health Clinic, the Irving Graham Health Center and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

Nine times a year we host programs for our members, and monthly provide an award winning publication, Ramifications, for members and special friends of the Academy. Quarterly we provide special editions of Ramifications, which focus on key health care issues such as antibiotic resistance, weapons of mass destruction, and most recently, chronic pain management. Local physician experts and academic leaders are contributors to these editions. Additional services provided members include legislative functions, practice management seminars and forums and small group discussion opportunities. The website for the Academy is www.ramdocs.org and we invite you to visit us. We also invite you to call us at 804-643-6631 if you need physician information, physician referral information or specific demographic information about the local physician market.

Through the Academy’s Services Corporation, the Academy is also the home of specialty societies and related physician services. We manage the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, the Virginia Surgical Society, the Virginia Urological Society, the Virginia Dermatological Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, Virginia Chapter, the Virginia Pediatric Foundation, the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Radiology, Humera, the Virginia Society of Hematology and Oncology, and the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology. The Centralized Credentials Verification Service, a physician credentialing agency, provides additional services to 2000 physicians, local hospitals and managed care organizations.
