History

The Sisters of Bon Secours established their first hospital in Baltimore in 1919; and by 1980, they had several Catholic hospitals, long-term care facilities and other healthcare services. Bon Secours Health System was formed in 1983 to provide skilled, unified management and professional resources for all Bon Secours healthcare operations while preserving Bon Secours’ Catholic traditions. Today, Bon Secours Health System, Inc. is a national healthcare system offering acute care, assisted and independent living, ambulatory services and long-term care. Bon Secours Richmond has established itself as one of Bon Secours’ premiere hospital systems.
