The following is a comprehensive list of Richmond's hospitals and medical centers, including specialties and contact phone numbers. Many of these hospitals have their own referral services.
Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, 5801 Bremo Road, 285-2011. The New Life Center at St. Mary's was voted by readers of Style Weekly as the best place in Richmond to have a baby. This 391-bed hospital is widely recognized for specialties in surgery, cancer care, orthopedics, cardiac surgery/cardiac catheterization, birthing and women's services, neonatal intensive care, pediatric services, 24-hour emergency care, psychiatric care, diagnostic and treatment services and adjacent physician practices. It has also recently announced the opening of a Cardiac Wellness Center. St. Mary's Hospital was recognized by Professional Research Consultants among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide based on the overall quality of care and overall quality of doctor's care in the emergency department.
Bon Secours Richmond Community Hospital, 1500 N. 28th Street, 225-1700. This 104-bed hospital is located in Richmond's historic Church Hill. It offers specialties in primary and emergency services, psychiatric services and dialysis care, and has a variety of community outreach programs and adjacent physician practices. Richmond Community Hospital was the recipient of the 2000 Top Performer award given by Professional Research Consultants based on emergency room patient satisfaction.
Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, 8260 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, 764-6000. A family-centered, acute care, 225-bed hospital in Hanover, Memorial Regional Medical Center offers comprehensive surgical services, birthing services, a neonatal intensive care unit, diagnostic cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, cardiac surgery/cardiac catheterization, 24-hour emergency care, diagnostic and treatment services and adjacent physician practices. HCIA recognized Memorial Regional Medical Center as a Top 100 Performer in stroke care among hospitals nationwide for the year 2000.
Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. Scheduled to open in 2003, St. Francis Medical Center will be located off Route 288 at the western end of Powhite Parkway in Chesterfield County. This 130-bed facility will offer a 24-hour emergency department as well as birthing, surgical, diagnostic and outpatient pediatric services. The 29-acre campus will include medical office buildings for physicians and healthcare providers. St. Francis Medical Center will provide services for the residents of Powhatan, Amelia, Chesterfield and Nottoway counties.
